Cervical Disc Replacement

Cervical Disc Replacement. Motion sparing cervical surgery through a microscopic minimally invasive approach. By replacing the disc instead of fusing it, we allow the segment to maintain motion and restore natural alignment, decreasing the risk of breakdown in the adjacent levels while still fully decompressing the spinal cord and nerve roots. Patients maintain full neck motion without the need for a collar and are back to full activities faster. This 42 year old mechanic has been dealing with severe radiculopathy for over 2 years with no relief with conservative management. His patient reported pre-op neck disability index score was 51% (which shows he reported his symptoms were severely limiting his quality of life). His post-op neck disability index score after 2 weeks is now 8% (which implies he is no longer limited by these symptoms). He is now already back to work, without pain, with full range of motion.
